SAYLORSBURG, Pa. – The American Three Quarter Midget Racing Ass’n took to the tight confines of Borger’s Speedway for a wingless 50-lap feature Saturday, and when all was said and done, Matt Janisch of Nazareth scored his second straight club victory.
Janisch, who is fresh off a dominating win on April 19 at Mahoning Valley Speedway, is no stranger when it comes to the paved one-seventh mile oval nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. He has regularly paid visits to victory lane at Borger’s.
At the drop of the green it was Joey Bailey, defending champion Ryan Tidman and Buddy Sload bunched tightly heading into turn one.
On the second lap, Janisch got by Sload for third with his sights set on the leaders. He and Sload got by Tidman and Bailey and raced side by side with Janisch taking the lead the next lap.
Running a strong race was Geoffrey Sutton who moved into third on lap thirteen. In the closing laps Matt Roselli and Rob Vivona moved into fourth and fifth respectively but Janisch was not to be caught as he took the checkers over Sload, Sutton, Roselli and Vivona.
