CONCORD, N.C. – For the first time in a half-decade, Andrew Felker is returning to full-time status on the national midget scene.
Felker has committed to the newly-created Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series. The 29-year-old native of Carl Junction, Mo., is set to be a veteran championship contender during the 12-race series.
Felker will be wheeling the Pannell Chipping, James Hodge Auto Group, Smith Equipment Company, Ripper/SR-11 No. 11A as he aims for another title 10 years after he won the 2012 POWRi National Midget Championship. The two-time Chili Bowl A-Main starter is also a two-time POWRi West Midget Champion in recent years as he rebuilt his program.
“I was kind of burnt out on racing for a while, but the regional scene really helped me fall back into love with it,” Felker admitted. “This new series is the perfect opportunity for us to get back on the road and showcase our team and our sponsors.
“Looking at the schedule, purses, and incentives, it all makes sense for us to give this a go.”
The first of 12 race-winning opportunities for Felker will come when the series debuts on April 1-2 at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway during the beloved Illini 100 weekend. It will be the first of three tracks on the schedule that Felker has yet to race, which also includes Millbridge Speedway on May 23-24 in Salisbury, N.C., and Davenport (Iowa) Speedway on August 26-27.
One of the highlights of the Xtreme Outlaw schedule for Felker comes on Aug. 5-6 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 when he gets the chance to race in his home state alongside the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Additional events at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway, Port City (Okla.) Raceway, and I-44 Riverside (Okla.) Speedway will offer returns to venues where Felker is already a proven winner.
