Faccinto Flies In BCRA Midget Test

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Michael Faccinto won the 25-lap Bay Cities Racing Ass’n midget car feature at The Dirt Track at Kern County on Friday night.

Faccinto took over the lead on the 12th lap when leader Chase Johnson lost an engine and brought out a caution.

Johnson was the class of the field up until his misfortune. He started in the third spot but worked his way into the lead by the end of the first lap. The 10-car starting field was short Terry Nichols who came out for the main but failed to take the green flag.

Tony Gualda would bring out the race’s first caution when he slowed and stopped in the first turn.  The Hollister, California driver would be pushed back to the pit area and out of the race.

Johnson showed his strength and began to pull away from Faccinto each lap.  It would be Johnson’s younger brother Colby who would charged with the next caution when he slowed to a stop.  Third place Jake Andreotti would also stop on the back stretch.  Andreotti’s black No. 00 had showed signs of a fluid leak coming from the engine for a few laps.

On the restart, leader Johnson suddenly slowed to a stop right before the flag stand with a terminal engine issue.

After coming to life on the restart, Shannon McQueen would come to a stop at the beginning of the backstretch. She was running third at the time and was coming to the front.

With Faccinto out front, Brody Fuson and Ryan Bernal waged a battle, swapping the runner up position several times. The battle allowed Faccinto a comfort zone and he pulled away to win while Fuson beat Bernal.
