BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Brad Loyet capped a successful season on the O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Tour with a victory at Belle-Clair Speedway Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to stop Brad Kuhn from locking up the series crown.
Loyet started from the pole by virtue of having the most passing points during the heats. He took full advantage of his starting position by blasting out into the lead ahead of Kuhn.
Several drivers, including Brent Beauchamp, Brett Anderson and Kuhn, took turns trying to chase down Loyet from the second position, but none of them could get the job done as Loyet raced to the victory ahead of Anderson, Tim Siner, Kuhn and Austin Brown.
Kuhn’s fourth-place finish secured his second series title, making him the first two-time POWRi National Midget Series champion.
