Gennetten Runs Down Brown At Lakeside

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Ayrton Gennetten used precise timing to snatch victory with the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints in the Sunflower State Showcase Friday night at Lakeside Speedway.

It was Gennetten’s fifth POWRi victory this season, coming in a caution-free main event.

Captivating the crowd on the initial green flag start with high-point qualifier Brian Brown and Gennetten lined up in the front row as Brown gained the lead on the opening lap with Ayrton Gennetten, Jason Martin, Austin McCarl and Blake Hahn giving chase.

Showing speed after gaining the initial lead, Brown appeared to be the cream of the class as laps began to tick away at a rapid rate with Gennetten moving into second with McCarl third.

Displaying outstanding action in an intense feature, late-race dramatics would rear as Gennetten caught the front-running Brown with five laps remaining as McCarl also showed a nose on the low line for the top position.

Gennetten went to the top of the track and grabbed the lead from Brown with three laps remaining.

McCarl finished second, with Brown third.

“I was working on Brian all race. Once that flagman showed five to go I knew it was time to move,” Gennetten said. “I knew we had a fast car all night and a win like this shows just how far we have come as a team this year, what a fun race.”

Emerson Axsom and Xavier Doney completed the top five.
