Cox Sweeps Up The Mess As HOSS Visits Illiana Oval


SCHERERVILLE, Ind. — Tim Cox’s victory in the special 30-lap Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series main event highlighted Illiana Motor Speedway’s annual RaceFest Saturday night.

Cox, the veteran sprint-car driver from Park City, Ill., set fast time, won his heat and went on to capture the evening’s feature on the half-mile paved oval.

Wheeling the Tony and Deb Swanson-owned sprinter, Cox made an outside-groove charge around Dorman Snyder on lap 12 to take the lead and held a 1.545-second margin over Geoff Kaiser at the finish. Hank Lower, Jeff Bloom and Greg Wheeler were the rest of the top five.
