BELGRADE, Mont. — Four rounds into the season, with just as many trips to victory lane, Oregon’s Tyler Thompson stood atop the podium Friday night at Gallatin Speedway with the ASCS Frontier Region.
Getting to the track just in time following a rain delay at the Montana oval, the battle was on as Thompson chased Canada’s Kelly Miller through the first 17 laps. Racing less than a tenth of a second apart leading up the pass for two laps, Thompson cleared on the 18th revolution with a high-side pass off the fourth turn and proceeded to run away for his fifth career ASCS Frontier Region win.
Kelly Miller crossed second, with Rich Bailey third. Phil Dietz and Bryan Brown completed the top five.
The ASCS Frontier Region races again on July 13, at Electric City Speedway.
