COLUMBIA, Mo. – Scott Bogucki has tabbed veteran sprint car driver Johnny Herrera to pilot his SawBlade.com sponsored No. 28 this weekend during the 48th annual Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals.
Bogucki is the best man in a wedding, which was postponed from last year because of COVID-19. He elected to fill his seat with Herrera for the action this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, where the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour visits for its penultimate event of the season.
“I wanted someone who would run good and represent our team and SawBlade.com well,” Bogucki said. “Johnny is going to do his best and will look after our stuff so it was kind of a no brainer.”
Herrera competed in the event last year when he advanced from 21 st to 14th during the finale. His most recent win at Devil’s Bowl Speedway was in October 2016 during the Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals. He also was victorious at the track during an ASCS race in 2013.
Bogucki’s SawBlade.com backed team enters the event ranked sixth in the ASCS National Tour championship standings despite missing multiple races this year.
Bogucki will return to his sprint car the following weekend to wrap up the year at the Short Track Nationals hosted by I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
