DODGE CITY, Kan. — Collecting his first win of the season and likewise first with the ASCS Western Plains Region, Matt Covington got to the front fast and led flag-to-flag Saturday night at Dodge City Raceway Park.
Winning in his 20th start of the season, the win is almost retribution after having led during the National Tour’s visit to the three-eighths-mile track on June 1, where Covington paced the opening 13 laps of the Steve King Memorial before contact with a slower car ended his night.
Unmatched in his return to the Kansas oval, Covington made it to the finish with 2.315 seconds to spare over Jeremy Campbell.
Third went to Adam Trimble, with Bryant Wiedeman and Tyler Knight making up the top five.
