MONZA, Italy – Formula Three racer Alex Peroni suffered a fractured vertebra in a violent crash Saturday at Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
Peroni’s car ran wide at the Parabolica corner and struck a curb, which sent his car flying through the air. His car flipped through the air before striking a barrier and coming to rest on top of a tire barrier at the exit of the corner.
He was able to exit the car under his own power and walked to the medical vehicle, but was taken to a local hospital for further observations. It was reported by Motorsport.com that he suffered a fractured vertebra in the crash and would miss Sunday’s second Formula Three event.
Following the incident series officials removed the curb that sent Peroni flying through the air. View video of the crash below.
