MONTEREY, Calif. – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca was recognized as the top venue in the category of Art, Attractions, Entertainment, Event Services and Recreation at the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s 34th Business Excellence Awards on Aug. 26.
“We are thrilled to receive this award from the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce,” said John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. “We shared this category with two wonderful venues in the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Monterey Zoo and are honored that the hard work of our staff was recognized by the Chamber.”
“While we were unable to hold the Business Excellence Awards in 2020, we note that this event honors all of the businesses that re-evaluated, persisted and held on through the pandemic,” said Monica Lal, interim CEO of the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
The County of Monterey’s WeatherTech Raceway provided a safe, sanitary environment for track rentals, loyal customers, campers and park guests in 2020. The care and planning that went into 2020 has allowed the full return to racing in 2021, including the recently concluded Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The Laguna Seca Recreation Area also offers camping and plenty of outdoor excitement within the 500-plus acres.
Fans can experience the facility at both the upcoming Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship, Sept. 10-12, and the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, Sept. 17-19. As part of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s community involvement, Monterey County residents are eligible to receive a 25 percent discount on general admission tickets for both upcoming professional motorsport events.
