Waters Powers To Third Supercars Win Of Season

TASMANIA — Cam Waters scored the victory in Sunday’s Repco Supercars Championship race at Tasmania SuperSprint after dominating the event.

The event and all Supercars races are broadcast LIVE on SPEED SPORT 1.

Waters surged ahead of runner-up and championship leader Will Brown, while the final podium position went to Bryce Fullwood. It was Fullwood’s first podium with Brad Jones Racing.

“I’m so happy to get the win,” Waters said.

“I got a good start and so did Tommy (Randle), and he fought hard for turn one which was fine, and he just made a little mistake at turn four and ran wide, but I’m gutted for him, he probably should be up here on the podium with me.

“I was just trying to keep a small gap to Will and trying to let him cook his tires, and I knew Tommy was in there, and with 20 to go I started to push on.

“I tried to break the tow for Will and make it easier for Tom, I’m not really sure what happened to him.”

Saturday’s runner-up finisher, Chaz Mostert, charged from 11th on the grid to finish fourth, maintaining a manageable points gap of 81 markers behind Brown.

In the latter stages of the race, Thomas Randle and Broc Feeney made contact after Randle attempted to pass Feeney in the hairpin, which resulted in a spinning Randle. The move dropped Randle 198 points behind points leader Brown.

Jack Le Brocq and Andre Heimgartner finished sixth and seventh, with Saturday’s winner Nick Percat making a hard charge from 24th and last to seventh. Ryan Wood, Mark Winterbottom and Tim Slade completed the top 10.
