Van Der Linde Gives BMW First Bathurst Pole In Six Years

Sheldon van der Linde scored BMW’s first Repco Bathurst 12 Hour pole in six years as he emerged on top in qualifying.

Van der Linde claimed WRT’s first pole award and BMW’s second after Chaz Mostert and Schnitzer Motorsport in 2018.

“Honestly man, I have massive goosebumps right now,” said van der Linde, who finished fourth in last year’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

“Just coming back to Bathurst and driving this track is a massive honour, for sure. To be on pole in my second running in Bathurst is obviously unexpected, for sure.”

The No. 32 WRT BMW will share the front row for Sunday’s race with the No. 888 National Storage Mercedes-AMG with Supercars star Broc Feeney qualifiyng 0.256 seconds behind van der Linde.

Maro Engel and Matt Campbell were third and fourth with Luca Stolz, sharing the No. 75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG with fellow defending race winners Jules Gounon and Kenny Habul, in fifth.
