LE MANS, France – United Autosports have committed to the new Ligier JS P320 ahead of their 2020 European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup programs.
The team, who are exclusive UK agents for Ligier Automotive, have purchased the latest generation of LMP3 car from the French manufacturer. The Ligier JS P320 is one of the four new chassis selected by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), which will be homologated for the 2020-2024 period.
United Autosports have committed to the new cars for their 2020 European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup programs, marking their fifth year competing in the European Le Mans Series.
“I can’t wait for United Autosports to take delivery of their new Ligier JS P320s,” said Zak Brown, team owner and chairman of United Autosports. “We have had a lot of success with the first generation car so I’m confident the second generation will be just as competitive.”
The Ligier JS P320 will be eligible to race in the European Le Mans Series, the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the Ultimate Cup Series from next year, but won’t be available for the Asian Le Mans Series until the 2020/2021 season. The IMSA Prototype Challenge in the USA will accept the new generation Ligier in 2021, with the Australian LMP3 Cup accepting the car in 2022.
The Ligier JS P3 is one of the most successful LMP3 cars in existence, winning no fewer than five titles in 2018, with 26 victories in 34 races. United Autosports won the 2016 and 2017 European Le Mans Series with the Ligier JS P3.
