Toyota Unveils 2026 Supercars Entry

BATHURST, Australia — Toyota has unveiled a full-size clay model of the Gen3 GR Supra Supercar at Mount Panorama, ahead of the brand’s move into Supercars from 2026.

In an historic day for Toyota and Supercars, the stunning clay model of the race car’s body was revealed in pit lane at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The model, re-imagined and produced by the Melbourne-based Toyota Design Australia team, will be on display for fans from Friday in Garage 19.

Dubbed the ‘Supracar’, the GR Supra is based on the classic rear-drive coupe proportions of the most celebrated model in Toyota’s illustrious sports-car heritage.

It comes after the blockbuster reveal of Toyota’s plans to enter the sport in 2026, with Walkinshaw Andretti United selected as the homologation team.

The bodywork was revealed in Mount Panorama’s pit lane garages by Toyota Australia’s Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley, and Senior Manager of Toyota Design Australia Nic Hogios.

“Our design team has amped up the car significantly, giving fans a fresh perspective of GR Supra performance through a car that instantly looks like it owns the track,” Hogios said.

“We are enthusiasts first and foremost, and the GR Supra Supercar is the kind of project we dream about working on. We can’t wait to see it competing and winning in Supercars, including right here at Bathurst.”

Toyota plans to secure a second team to field at least four Supras in its debut season.
