FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Showtime Motorsports Franklin Road Apparel Team Principal Ken Thwaits has recruited two-time Trans Am TA2 Class Champion Cameron Lawrence to drive his No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro for the entire season and the 2021 West Coast Champion Carl Rydquist to drive the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro for 8-10 races.
Cameron drove for Franklin Road for the first time at Circuit Of The Americas at this year’s season finale, qualifying in fourth and finished in fifth. He is the 2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and Sahlen Six Hours of Watkins Glen endurance race winner and has more than 20 TA2 class victories.
Rydquist was the runaway winner of this year’s West Coast Championship, collecting 204 points over the course of seven-race season and grabbing four victories.
Thwaits, who enjoyed a fourth place overall finish in the TA Class Driver’s Championship this season after winning the GTX Championship in 2020, will be back behind the wheel of one of the Franklin Road Chevrolet Camaros next season, but there is still one seat open for a full season.
“I’m thrilled to be adding Cameron (Lawrence) and Carl (Rydquist) to the Showtime Franklin Road Appeal team for next year,” said Thwaits. “They’re both great drivers and true champions so naturally I look forward to being a part of their continued success. I’m looking forward to next season enormously. We have a great team to go to war and it’s going to be epic racing for the drivers and the fans.”
Thwaits’ flagship partner Franklin Road markets the branded Trans Am Apparel.
The season gets underway with the traditional season opener at Sebring (Fla.) Int’l Raceway Feb. 24-27.
