LE MANS, France — Josh Pierson, the youngest driver to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans, will return to United Autosports for the 2023 season.
After a successful debut with the team in the Asian Le Mans Series earlier this year, winning both races and proving his sportscar ability, Pierson took the WEC scene by storm becoming the youngest WEC driver, and subsequent winner, at the 1000 Miles of Sebring.
United co-owners Zak Brown and Richard Dean scouted and personally watched Pierson when he was only 15 years old, before announcing exactly 12 months ago, his participance in this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The American driver becomes the youngest ever driver to compete in the infamous French endurance race.
“Super happy to be returning to United Autosports again in 2023,” Pierson said. “United feels like family and I have enjoyed every second spent with this incredible team. We will stay focused on the remainder of the 2022 season to achieve the best results possible. Looking forward to what the future has in store.”
Pierson, who currently lies second in the WEC LMP2 Driver standings, has impressed all with his speed, consistency, work ethic and race craft.
“I’m delighted that United Autosports have already secured the services of Josh for the WEC in 2023. Richard and I are really excited about his prospects,” said Brown. “He’s already a proven race and class winner and without doubt, has clearly got lots of potential in sportscar racing for a long, long time to come. He’s an awesome kid with huge prospects and everyone at United wants to be a part of that success.”
