ITALY — Lamborghini Squadra Corsa GT3 Junior Mateo Llarena is set to make his Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS debut in 2024 with Grasser Racing Team.
The Italian driver kicks off his fourth season as a Lamborghini Squadra Corsa GT3 Junior driver in a familiar machine — the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.
After three years racing the Huracan predecessors in the Italian GT Championship, Llarena is eager to step into the top tier of European GT3 racing in 2024, with one of Lamborghini’s longest partnered and most successful teams, GRT.
While Llarena is new to Fanatec GT World Challenge, GRT is an old friend.
The group boasts an overall championship in the series in 2017, and most recently was crowned the Silver Champion in 2023 — both achieved with Lamborghini backing. The combined effort of Llarena and GRT are sure to be a threat to the talent-packed grid this year, as both are intimately familiar with the Huracan GT3 EVO2 platform and share an unrelenting drive for perfection.
To further set Llarena up for success this season, GRT has armed the Lamborghini Junior with a pair of impeccable co-drivers; Englishman, Hugo Cook, and Haytham Qarajouli hailing from Kuwait.
The pairing of Cook and Qarajouli will take on the full Fanatec GT World Challenge season defending the teams 2023 Silver Championship, with Llarena completing the trio for the five endurance rounds.
The season kicks off at Paul Ricard, April 5-7, for Endurance Round 1.Â
