WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Jeff Ricca will lead the 17-car TC field to the green flag for Saturday afternoon’s 11th round of TC America Series action at Road America.
The TC America Series will showcase two 40-minute TC contests at the challenging 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course.
Early on in the 15-minute qualifying session, point leader Johan Schwartz in the Rooster Hall Racing No. 80 BMW M240iR Cup went to the top of the TC charts with a 2:27.831, followed by Toby Grahovec, who enters the weekend second in the driver standings in the No. 26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR Cup with a 2:28.138.
Slotting into third on the charts with a 2:28.733 was James Clay in the No. 63 Copart/BimmerWorld Racing BMW M240iR.
Ricca, in the No. 78 GenRacer Hyundai Genesis, then eclipsed Schwartz’ early fast time and jumped to the top with a 2:26.962. Grahovec soon followed with a faster time of 2:27.519 to slot into second. Schwartz improved to a 2:27.669, good enough for third on the charts.
Near the end of the session, Joseph Federl’s No. 23 TechSport Racing Nissan 370Z posted a 2:27.004 to move into second. At the checkered, the top times held.
