BARCELONA, Spain — Rising American open-wheel star Jak Crawford scored his first career Formula 2 victory on Sunday, winning the 37-lap race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
A 19-year-old from Texas, Crawford won his first sprint race last year but never broke through with a feature victory until Sunday. He placed fourth in the sprint race earlier in the weekend.
With the victory, he jumped from 10th to fourth in series points.
“Honestly, this is huge, getting a double podium for the team,” Crawford said. “Our season has not been going well in the last few rounds, and this was a perfect weekend with the qualifying and the Feature Race. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
