WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Rearden Racing’s Jeff Burton has earned his first overall GT America race victory after taking the checkered flag first Sunday at Watkins Glen Int’l.
Burton moved around Charlie Luck on the sixth lap and led for the remainder of the race while the battle for class positions and the overall runner-up position continued behind him.
On the final lap Luck and Andy Wilzoch came together in turn nine, sending both into the wall. Wilzoch recovered and finished the lap to take the checkered flag, but Luck had to limp his Porsche back to the pits with major damage.
As a result, Caesar Bacarella crossed the line second overall and first in the Invitational field. In the GT4 class, Jason Bell swept the class weekend with his second flag-to-flag win.
