Kurtz Returns To Defend GTSA Title

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — George Kurtz, CEO and co-founder of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, will return to the Pirelli World Challenge to defend his GTSA racing title for the full season.

He and pro driver Colin Braun will also pair up for all SprintX races in the North American production-based road racing series with a new Audi R8 LMS GT4.

The announcement comes just days after CrowdStrike was named the Official Series Sponsor and Cybersecurity Provider for PWC.

Kurtz and Braun will command the No. 04 CrowdStrike/GMG Racing Audi, prepared by Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing), for the two-driver SprintX races.

Braun worked with Kurtz in 2013 in the Radical Cup USA series, and the pair has also raced together in the grueling 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance event.

Over the course of his 2017 PWC race season, Kurtz saw great success, taking the GTSA points championship with a GMG-prepared McLaren 570S. CrowdStrike Racing will again be part of all PWC events throughout the 2018 season.

“PWC has been a great platform for CrowdStrike Racing,” Kurtz said. “We’ll run a full season with some familiar faces, like my talented co-driver Colin and the crew at GMG. Defending my championship title with the new Audi R8 will be a fun challenge, but I’m confident we’ll have another great year with PWC. Hosting our first CXO Summit at St. Pete as an official series sponsor will be a nice way to kick it all off.”

Braun is equally excited to be driving with Kurtz again.

“I’m excited to join my longtime friend George Kurtz for the SprintX rounds of the Pirelli World Challenge,” he confirmed. “I’ve worked with George for quite some time, and contributing to his growth as a driver has been very rewarding. It will be quite a tough season in PWC, but I know with GMG behind us, and how great a driver George showed us to be last year, we will be a tough pair to beat! I am excited to put the Audi to work this year, and to continue to meet and mingle with the CrowdStrike team and partners.”

“We’re very happy to have George Kurtz and CrowdStrike back in the GMG paddock, especially after George’s extraordinary, championship-winning 2017 season,” said GMG team owner, James Sofronas. “His SprintX co-driver, Colin Braun, is an asset to any program and rounds out a powerful driver pairing that will make for an exciting year.”

The first race of the PWC season, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, will be held from March 9-11.
