WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The opening event for the Formula Americas Super GP Championship has been rescheduled for the 4th of July weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The change was made to address COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“We have a lot of interest from drivers in Europe and Latin America with current restrictions on travel making it very difficult for them to make it to the events,” said Formula Americas’ President Jonathan N. Lewis. “We are hoping with the current ramp up in vaccines, that by July some of those restrictions will have been lifted. Moving our inaugural date back a couple months gives our drivers more time to get their travel plans in order.”
The second event, which was originally scheduled for Lime Rock Park has been changed to the July 24-25 weekend at Palm Beach Int’l Raceway, which is also the site of the official pre-season test days. All other events remain unchanged.
Formula Americas Super GP is a professional arrive and drive open-wheel Championship with over $300,000 in Prize Money and an all-inclusive full-season cost under $75,000. The Championship consists of 15 races held during five weekends with all events televised.
