Elghanayan & Davis Speed To SprintX Poles

AUSTIN, Texas – Nicolai Elghanayan and Andrew Davis claimed the pole positions for the opening two rounds of the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX season on Saturday at Circuit of the Americas.

Race one qualifying started under misty skies, but Elghanayan and the No. 71 Marco Polo Motorsports KTM Xbow GT4 fought the slick conditions to claim pole for Pirelli GT4 America SprintX race one with a best lap time of 2:17.227 in the Silver class.

Colin Mullan and the No. 36 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 will start second in the Silver class, third overall with Tim Barber and the No. 25 CCR Team TFB BMW M4 GT4 third in class, eighth overall.

Defending champion Matt Travis put the No. 47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 on the Pro-Am pole with a flying lap of 2:17.373, and will start second overall.  Jeff Burton and the No. 91 Rearden Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 will start second in class, fifth overall with Michael Dinan and the No. 21 Flying Lizard Aston Martin Vantage GT4 third in class, sixth overall.

Alex Welch put the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 on the Am-class pole, fourth overall, with a 2:17.963 lap.  Sean Gibbons and the No. 7 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 will start second in class, 10th overall, with Michael McAleenan and the No. 3 Motorsport USA McLaren 570S GT4 third in class, 14th overall.

Davis put the No. 2 GMG Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 on the overall and Pro-Am pole during qualifying for the second race with a 2:14.612 fastest lap, the quickest of the weekend.

Kenton Koch will start the No. 15 Bsport Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 second overall with Jason Hart and the No. 47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 third.

Mads Siljehaug will start the No. 71 Marco Polo Motorsports KTM Xbow GT4 on the Silver class pole, sixth overall after a posting a 2:15.366 fastest lap time.  Jarrett Andretti and the No. 36 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 will start second in class, 16th overall with Harry Gottsacker and the No. 28 ST Racing BMW M4 GT4 third in class, 18th overall.

The Am class pole went to the No. 7 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 of Sean Gibbons, who will start 13th overall, with the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS of Michael McGrath second in class, nineteenth overall. Derek DeBoer will start the No. 17 TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 third in class, 20th overall.
