Bortolotti Leads Hockenheim DTM Drills

HOCKENHEIM, Germany — Mirko Bortolotti is still putting the pressure on in the title fight.

The leader of the table was the fastest driver on Friday at the start of the last DTM stop in Hockenheim and is well prepared for the final showdown.

The Lamborghini factory driver from SSR Performance achieved the best time of the day in the second training session in the afternoon with 1:38.184 minutes.

“We are optimally prepared for the weekend, even if Friday in the DTM is not so meaningful. It was important that I was able to drive a few laps on a drying track in the second session after the rain in the morning,” said the Viennese resident after his strong performance.

Thomas Preining (finished second in the Porsche 911 GT3 R from Manthey EMA, 0.221 seconds behind, his teammate Ayhancan Güven took third place.

Nicki Thiim drove the second Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 from SSR Performance to fourth place. Thierry Vermeulen in the Ferrari 296 GT3 from Emil Frey Racing completed the top five.

Second overall, Kelvin van der Linde had to settle for 14th place in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 from Abt Sportsline, but was fighting.

Third-placed Maro Engel from the Mercedes-AMG Team Winward was only slightly faster in 13th place.
