SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy – Ducati MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso will take on a different challenge this weekend by competing in the Blancpain Super Trofeo and World Final events in Valencia, Spain.

Dovizioso will be behind the wheel of a Huracán Super Trofeo fielded by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the motorsport department of the manufacturer in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

Now in his fourth season with Ducati Corse, the 30-year-old Dovizioso from Forlì, Italy has taken part in 258 Grands Prix, of which 160 were in MotoGP, where he scored his most recent victory in Malaysia last October.

“I’m really happy to have this experience with Lamborghini,” Dovizioso said. “This is the first race on one of their cars in such an important championship. I’ve just finished the MotoGP season in Valencia and honestly, I don’t know what this track will be like with the four wheels. Anyways, I can’t wait! I will be racing for four days, therefore I’m sure I’ll enjoy it very much. I have no idea who my opponents will be, but certainly the best ones of the American, Asian and European championships.”

For the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, Dovizioso must adapt his driving style to four wheels. The Italian rider, who can rely on the support of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, has already had a taste of the potential of the Huracán, since he participated in the Lamborghini Track Accademia last May at Imola, Italy, where he did some training with his Ducati colleague and MotoGP champion Casey Stoner.

Dovizioso will take part in two races as part of the European Series and in the World Final in the Pro-Am class, but he will be excluded from the rankings.

The car he will drive will feature the No. 100 to celebrate the centenary birth of the founder Ferruccio Lamborghini and a livery designed by the Centro Stile Lamborghini, according to the direction of its design director, Mitja Borkert.

“The Huracán Super Trofeo is divided in a metallic grey and a blazing green,” Borkert said. “The Titans grey side describes the state-of-the-art technology used by Lamborghini. The Mantis green half shows the passion of the Squadra Corse. Both aspects are connected with the hexagonal design, which is inspired by the Miura and is clearly a Lamborghini statement.”
