SONOMA, Calif. — Flying Lizard Motorsports Program Manager Darren Law will return to the driver’s seat next week for the Pirelli World Challenge season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Competing in the SprintX GT class, Law will be co-driver to customer racer Andy Wilzoch in the No. 45 Porsche, complete with the Flying Lizard Livery. Law’s previous run in a Flying Lizard Porsche was Baltimore 2011, co-driving with FLM founder and former owner Seth Neiman.
The 2016 season marked Wilzoch’s first competition in the Pirelli World Challenge after dominating in the Porsche Club of America. Wilzoch’s opening weekend at Road America in the GTA class brought two podium finishes, followed by a fifth and sixth-place finish at the Lizard’s home track, Sonoma Raceway.
In addition to the SprintX competition, Andy will participate in the final GTA race of the year, his fifth to date.
In addition to fielding the No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3R, Flying Lizard Motorsports will be supporting the trio of K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3s as the team makes a final race shootout for the championship title. Guests of eSilicon, a leading independent semiconductor design and manufacturing solutions provider, and long term partner of Flying Lizard Motorsports, will be present to support the team, getting a VIP look into the team’s operations on a race weekend. On track sessions at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca begin Oct. 7.
“I am really excited to get back behind the wheel of a Flying Lizard Porsche for a pro race weekend, and I am appreciative that Andy Wilzoch has asked me to join him,” Law said. “I started with the team in 2004 when they began their professional racing campaign in the American Le Mans Series and after having spent so many years in the Porsche RSR’s, it’s neat to see the advancement of technology in today’s cars. Driving this new GT3R should be a blast. Being on the management side of the team takes a lot of my time, but luckily I still get to spend a time behind the wheel with coaching and testing so hopefully I won’t be too rusty. It should be a lot of fun for both of us.”
