Wiltshire Joins Era Motorsport For IMSA Sprint Races

INDIANAPOLIS — Era Motorsport’s LMP2 program will welcome English racing driver Stuart Wiltshire to the IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Challenge for the first time next weekend at the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada.

Wiltshire, though a new name to IMSA, has much experience in the world of Formula 3, where he has two runner-up finishes in the MSV F3 Cup, and has recently started racing prototypes in the growing “modern historic” racing world.

In Europe, Wiltshire has experience behind the wheel of LMP2 Prototypes, a Peugeot 90X LMP1 car and most recently an Acura ARX-05 which, is run out of the Era Motorsport U.S. Workshop.

Wiltshire also got experience in the IMSA-spec Era Motorsport Oreca 07 LMP2 last year at the Historic Sportscar Racing Daytona Classic where he raced alongside the team’s usual bronze driver, Dwight Merriman.

In addition to the upcoming race at CTMP July 12-14, Wiltshire will be in the car for the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America in Wisconsin Aug. 2-4.

Sharing the car with Witshire will be Ryan Dalziel, who has been the teams professional driver since the 2021 IMSA season.

After testing in the car at CTMP last week, Wiltshire is excited to be making his IMSA debut.

“I can’t wait to get my first taste of racing at this level,” Wiltshire began.

“After getting a few years of experience driving prototypes, I’ve gotten quite comfortable behind the wheel and I can’t wait to see how things stack up once we get on track for FP1.

“After the test, I feel great in the car, and I’m confident with the pace I have. The biggest difference for me will be the longer stints in IMSA as opposed to the 45-minute drive times I’m used to in historic racing,” Wiltshire said.

“Overall though, I’m extremely thankful to Kyle Tilley and the rest of the team at Era Motorsport. They always put together an incredible car and have the crew to back it up, so I feel as strong as ever entering into these next few races.”

Tilley has faith in Wiltshire’s abilities on track for the next few rounds.

“I’ve known Stuart for a while now, and have every confidence that he will do an excellent job for us,” Tilley said. “It’s a bit of a power cut compared to what he’s used to, but who wouldn’t want to race a P2 at Mosport?!”

With back-to-back wins at Daytona and Sebring to start the season, Era Motorsport currently sits second in the LMP2 Championship, just eight points behind first place.
