DALLAS – Park Place Motorsports will be back in action with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Road America on Aug. 5.

Team Principal Patrick Lindsey and Porsche factory driver Jörg Bergmeister have selected to run the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America in addition to running the Super Season of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Championship. This will be the first sprint race the duo has competed in this year.

The IMSA endurance schedule ensures competitors race at famous venues across North America. However, Lindsey and Bergmeister were feeling nostalgic over the latter half of the 2017 season remembering their charge to the front of the points championship with four podium finishes. The duo finished second at Road America in 2017 after winning at Lime Rock Park. Lindsey and Bergmeister will forgo reliving a win a Lime Rock Park due to World Endurance Championship testing for the upcoming Silverstone race.

“Lime Rock wasn’t possible, but everyone loves going to Road America, so it was an easy addition to the schedule,” Lindsey said. “The fact we have ended on the podium at Road America the past two years is just a cherry on top to a fun venue. Having a strong finish at Watkins Glen after a rough weekend was encouraging. The Glen showed that we’re still an incredibly competent team that is equally competitive. We were the strongest Porsche on track which is a good benchmark for the guys. Hopefully, we can be on top of things at Road America and maybe even see the podium again.”

Alongside running in the GT Daytona class, David Kolkmann will run the No. 71 Eucon Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama for rounds nine and 10. Kolkmann currently sits third overall in the Platinum class points championship after a pair of fourth-place finishes capped off his weekend at Watkins Glen Int’l. Kolkmann has his eyes set on the top step of the podium to keep his championship hopes alive.
