INDIANAPOLIS – Marco Andretti will join his cousin Jarett Andretti to compete in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) Int’l on June 27.
The duo will be joined in the No. 36 Gallant Ligier JS P320 by 2021 Rolex 24 LMP3 co-champion Oliver Askew.
Marco Andretti announced last season that he was stepping away from full-time competition in the NTT IndyCar Series, instead choosing to focus solely on competing in the Indianapolis 500 while also dabbling in other forms of racing. He previously expressed interest in racing in IMSA with Jarett Andretti, the son of the late John Andretti, and now that will become a reality.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Watkins Glen and sports cars,” said Marco Andretti, who finished 19th in the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500. “I know John really loved driving with family, so I am happy Jarett and I can continue that part for him.”
Marco Andretti’s father, Andretti Autosport Chairman and CEO Michael Andretti, said he’s happy to see members of the Andretti family coming together to race.
“I’m so proud to see Jarett and Marco coming together to co-drive at Watkins Glen,” Michael Andretti said. “Racing has always been a family affair for us, but it was especially important to John, and it’s been a goal of ours to get them together in a car. I’m just glad this opportunity worked out for Marco to come aboard for the first endurance race of the season.”
