MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Rick Ware Racing has brought on veteran Elton Julian to become the team’s Competition Director for their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship team.
Julian started his career as a driver before forming his own team, DragonSpeed Racing, in 2017.
It has competed in IMSA, IndyCar, European Le Mans (2017 Champions) and the FIA World Endurance Championship. The team earned multiple LMP2 class victories, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Rick Ware Racing and it’s IMSA SportsCar program,” Julian said. “We join the series at its most competitive level seeking to improve on what RWR has accomplished so far. Rick’s decision to add Juan Pablo Montoya to the existing driver line up, further confirms his long-term vision within his team.
“With our newly assembled crew, we can immediately begin to prove the team’s worth in prototypes and challenge for podiums.”
This is another improvement by RWR to further the team’s overall growth and enhance its levels of competition.
“We have taken many steps through the past six months to bring on new talent in all series where we compete,” said Rick Ware, team owner. “Elton Julian is the latest piece of the puzzle to help us elevate across the board. With him overseeing the program, it allows us to grow our IMSA team and look at other classes, as well, before the 2024 season.”
