PLAIN CITY, Ohio – BAR1 Motorsports has added Martin Plowman to their driver roster for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Plowman has an impressive racing background that includes Indy Lights, IndyCar, and most recently clenching a 2013 FIA/WEC LMP2 Championship and 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 win. Plowman recently announced he will compete in IndyCar Series’ “Indy Double” this May, including both the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and Indianapolis 500 with ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt Racing.
“I’d like to thank Brian Alder and all at BAR1 Motorsports for putting their trust in me to race at the 12 Hours of Sebring,” said Plowman. “Brian has a very strong and ambitious program with one of the best engineers in the business so I know the car will be fast enough to win. I can’t wait to start work next week with my new co-drivers and team. Also thanks must go to Larry Foyt for giving me his blessing to race this weekend. Sebring is such a historic race and one that every driver would love to add to their resume, especially a second time around! This race came as a great surprise to me. I was due to have a quiet weekend at home, but now I’ll be busy packing for a week in Florida.”
“We are very excited to have Martin joining us for the 12 hour race,” said team owner Brian Alder. “We worked with Martin and Snowball Express at Daytona, and to have him join us as a driver completes the package. Martin’s experience in prototype cars will help elevate our entire teams effort over the course of the week. He is a true professional and we are proud to have him be a part of our team.”
