LE CASTELLET, France — Mexican racer Ricardo Gonzalez will run the European Le Mans Series with the famous French team ART Grand Prix in McLaren MP4 12C GT3.
Last year Gonzalez became the second Mexican in history to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and was crowned world champion in the LM P2 category.
González will compete this year for the first time in his career in a GT3 car will share with Alex Brundle and Karim Ajlani. The teammates of the ART team will be part of a competitive grid of 16 cars in the GTC category will compete for the five rounds of the ELMS.
“I am thrilled to finally be able to announce that we will be with ART Grand Prix in the European Le Mans Series,” Gonzalez said. “It has been a long winter, and after having had a near perfect year in 2013, we wanted to take our time to find the best possible project for 2014. We were in touch with all teams LM P2, but really any chance to return to defend our title in the WEC we presented, so when he left this project with ART in ELMS he decided it was better idea to look for a new challenge and otherwise a championship.”
