Warm Night At Deming Oval

DEMING, Wash. — Unseasonably warm temperatures once again permeated a sun soaked Deming Speedway on an early fall evening, while the large crowd on hand enjoyed great racing Friday at Deming Speedway.

Features winners on the evening were Madison Hess, Steven Hendrickson, Kyle Mitchell and Jesse Schlotfeldt.

First victories are always memorable and for Madison Hess, doing it on his sponsor’s night was even bigger. Madison led every lap of the main for his first career victory in the Hoosier Speedmart 600 division on Praise 106.5 night at the track. Madison was followed to the line by Liam Ryan and Spud Allen. Ryan set quick time. Heat wins went to Hayden Schmidt, Hess, Chase Schmidt and Joe Constance.

It was a return to victory lane for Steven Hendrickson in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 class. Hendrickson led every lap from the pole of the feature, picking up his first victory in over a calendar year, followed by Spud Allen and Brock Lemley. Liam Ryan set quick time. George Shufelt and Jared Gunderson won the heats.

In a repeat of last week, Kyle Mitchell pulled off a dominating performance in the 600 Restricted class, leading every lap of the main for the win. Mitchell was challenged late in traffic by Austin Sheridan who finished second, but pulled away on a late race restart. Tristin Thomas ended up third. Thomas set quick time. Spencer Constance, Eli Schmidt and Brandee Wood won the heat races.

What more can be said about Jesse Schlotfeldt? The young man won his 15th feature of the year in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints, taking the lead on lap 10 from his 8th place starting spot and in the process, completed another clean sweep after setting quick time and winning his heat race. Second and third in the main were Ashton Dial and Sawyer Sorgenfrei. Bradley Parks won the other heat race.
