ALGER, Wash. — Two straight days of hot Washington summer sunshine created awesome racing memories for over 90 racers in three different divisions at Skagit Speedway. At the end of the evening Shane Stewart was the winner of the 2013 Bob’s Burgers and Brew Summer Nationals.
For Stewart is was his second Summer Nationals win in his career at Skagit Speedway. Stewart joins an elite number or racers with more than one win in the event. From his front row starting position Stewart was in control of the race for all 40 laps.
Seven cautions aided his cause as he would just get into traffic and a yellow would fly. Travis Jacobson got past Travis Rilat on the lap six restart to grab the second spot. Rilat held onto the third position. Earlier in the night Stewart won the A Scramble. The other two Scramble winners were Luke Didiuk and Josh DeWitt. The C Main winner was Didiuk and Brock Lemley was the B Main winner.
Also on the program was the Dwarf Car Challenge featuring 33 dwarf cars from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
C.J. Putnam swept the weekend with main event wins both nights.
Matt Ploeg has dreamed of winning his first Outlaw Tuner race since before he started racing in the class. Tonight his dream more than came true as he won his first Outlaw Tuner main, which also was the Outlaw Tuner Nationals.
