DEMING, Wash. — Liam Ryan pulled ahead in his season long rivalry with Chase Schmidt, taking the season lead in the 600 Open division with a 25-lap wire-to-wire win at Deming Speedway on Friday night.
Tied at three wins a piece coming into the night, Liam Ryan secured his fourth win of the season in the 600 Open class over Chase Schmidt. The two Langley, BC natives started on the front row of the feature, with Ryan jumping out to an early advantage and Schmidt giving chase.
While things got hairy in traffic a few times, it was Ryan holding point for the entire duration, followed to the line by Schmidt and Kyle Mitchell.
Eric Drake became a three-time winner in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 division. Drake nailed his setup, cruising from the front row to an early advantage that would take him to the win without serious challenge during the course of the feature. Tyson Cross and Clennon Holloway staged a long battle for second, with Cross taking the spot on the final lap following some contact.
Tanner Holm became the first multiple time winner of the season in the 600 Restricted division. Holm inherited the lead on lap two after initial leader Sawyer Sorgenfrei spun, and through liberal use of the brake on a very slick Deming Speedway, cruised to a victory with Spencer Constance and Tristin Thomas finishing second and third. Jesse Schlotfeldt set quick time.
Lynden Lebedinski came from eighth to take his second win of the season in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints.
