MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Veteran Andy Forsberg had seen two potential wins at Marysville Raceway slip away this year, but Saturday night the Auburn, Calif., driver made no mistakes and added to his career total.
The fourth race in May made Marysville Raceway the busiest oval in California this year. Continued support from Speed Shift has made it possible for the quarter mile to run winged 360 sprints along with other divisions weekly.
A 16-car field of 360s were led in qualifying by last year’s track champion, Michael Ing, with a 13.317-second lap. A pair of heat races identified the eight drivers to participate in the redraw.
The 25-lap main showed Billy Wallace and Jake Haulot on the front row. Wallace led the first nine laps, ran into traffic, and Brad Bumgarner used a top side drive out of turn four to take over on lap 10.
The yellow flag waved after lap 13 and 15, with Forsberg making a pair of passes low into turn three to advance to second between the slowdowns.
On the restart Forsberg wasted no time in powering past Bumgarner and pulled away to score his 20th Marysville win and 183rd career victory.
Following Forsberg and Bumgarner across the line were John Michael Bunch, Ing and Haulot.
