$20,000 For Evergreen’s Summer Showdown

MONROE, Wash. – Evergreen Speedway will award the winner of the third annual Summer Showdown 200-lap event for super late models on June 27-28 at the five-eighths-mile asphalt oval a hefty $20,000.

It is the biggest payout in the history of super late model racing in the Northwest. In addition to the $20,000 winner’s share, the race will also feature more than $100,000 in prize money.

This year’s format for the Summer Showdown has changed a bit, with June 26 being an open practice and not mandatory for Summer Showdown cars to attend.

June 27 will feature practice for the Summer Showdown, which will begin at 1 p.m. Qualifying begins at 4:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by 30-lap mains for Mini Stocks and Street Stocks. The 25-lap Summer Showdown qualifying heats will follow. The top 24 starting positions in Saturday’s Summer Showdown 200 will come from the top spots in the qualifying heats.

The next four positions will be filled by the fastest four drivers who did not qualify through the heat races. The remaining spots in the 32 car Summer Showdown 200 field will come from the last chance qualifier on June 28.

The schedule on June 28 starts with practice for Summer Showdown super late mdoels and the visiting Pro 4 Alliance Series from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pro 4 qualifying is at 2:30 p.m., followed by the 50-lap last chance qualifier at 4 p.m. and the 40-lap Pro 4 race at 5 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 200-lap Summer Showdown.
