CONCORD, N.C. – During a wild night of racing during Round Nine of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series, Miguel Paludo dominated the Grudge Match school bus slobberknocker, as Daniel Hemric, Tom Pistone and John Holleman took home wins in Legend Car and Bandolero action, among others.
Tensions ran high and grudges were settled as Paludo, of Nova Prata, Brazil, took the victory in the Grudge Match school bus race. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver bested his main competition “Mad” Max Papis, of Como, Italy, who was more concerned with trying to wreck his way through the rest of the field.
The Legend Car Pro drivers were not without a grudge of their own. Hemric and Tyler Green traded words and paint as the buses rounded the track. However, when Green ran into the wall on the frontstretch, he lost his edge over Hemric.
None of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series regulars were able to challenge the NASCAR professional. Paludo pulled ahead of the pack after Bruce Silver flipped his bus on lap four, and held off the competition for the rest of the race. “Crazy” Eddie Harwell, a Security Force Legend Car Masters driver, took second place, and Lug Nut, the World’s Fastest Mascot, took home the third spot.
The 30-lap Legend Car Pro division feature was a barn burner with Hemric slipping by Evan Swilling on the final lap for his seventh win of the season after an epic battle for the lead. Kason Plott lead the field to the green, and the field immediately drew the yellow flag as Ryan Shattuck and Greg Lang spun in Turn 2.
On the restart, several cars got together bringing the caution again. Plott held the lead until lap four, when Kaz Grala moved into the point position. Swilling followed him past Plott into second and was soon on his bumper.
