NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Kyle Benjamin won Saturday’s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing finale at New Smyrna Speedway, but it was Steven Wallace who took the overall super late model championship at the half-mile asphalt oval.
Benjamin outran Travis Cope and Brandon Watson to win the 100-lap Bruce Gowland Memorial. Wallace finished fourth to lock up the super late model championship over sixth-place finisher Stephen Nasse. Alex Labbe completed the top five.
Cope’s second-place finish allowed him to claim the Florida Triple Crown championship, a combined points event among the Red-Eye 100, Pete Orr/Orange Blossom 100 and Saturday’s Gowland Memorial at New Smyrna. Cope pocketed $5,000 for winning that championship.
Brad May won the final pro late model event of the World Series while Spencer Davis claimed the overall division championship. Michael Williams won the companion sportsman race.
