Ty Gibbs Conquers Myrtle Beach Icebreaker

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Ty Gibbs, grandson of NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs, raced to victory in Saturday’s Icebreaker late model stock car race at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Driving for Nelson Motorsports, Gibbs took the lead on lap 116 from Will Burns and then survived a late-race challenge Justin Milliken in the final laps to earn the victory in the 200-lap event.

The victory comes a few weeks after Gibbs’ uncle, J.D. Gibbs, died after a lengthy battle with a degenerative neurological disease.

Ryan Millington, the 2017 Hickory Motor Speedway late model stock track champion, finished second. Milliken finished third ahead of Bradley McCaskill and Jacob Heafner.
