Rain Stops Action Early At East Bay


GIBSONTON, Fla. — Rain put an early stop to the action Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park, but not before the track was able to get a few features in for the fans in attendance.

In the 15-lap V8 Warriors feature Jeremy Simpson picked up his first win in the division. Jimmy Baker who rolled over earlier in the feature but drove back to a second place finish with David Riner third. Roy Woodhouse and Raymond Vann won their heats.

In the 15-lap Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Austin Sanders picked up the win after passing Travis Varnadore on lap nine. Varnadore finished second and Buzzie Reutimann third. Bryan Bernhardt and Travis Varnadore won their heats.

In the Limited Late Model 15-lap feature it was Jason Russell picking up his second feature win in the division. Russell’s last win came in 2012. Russell was able to hold off hard charging Forrest Gough and Waylon Haynes. Dale Pope and Waylon Haynes won their heats.

Winning the heat in the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks was Buck Woodhouse and in the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were Kayla Jones and George Handy. It started raining three laps into the street stock feature, forcing officials to postpone the remainder of the race until Aug. 16.
