WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Burt Myers overcame changing track conditions to win the pole for Saturday’s Hayes Jewelers 200 at Bowman Gray Stadium.
“It was a little treacherous when we first went back out,” said Myers about track conditions after practice was resumed from a rain delay. “But the track came in pretty good. It’s obvious: The top three or four cars ran some really good laps.
“We used the same old car, same old setup, same everything – the main reason for today for us was to fine tune,” Myers added. “We made a mock run on our other tires and got close, so we threw something at it and it worked.”
Tim Brown, who won the Hayes Jewelers 200 last season, will start on the outside front row. Jason Myers starts third, with Lee Jeffreys starting in fourth.
The top 10 competitors have their positions locked in. The remaining competitors have the option of re-qualifying on Saturday to determine their starting spots for the race.
