Mathews Stops Reutimann In Ocala

OCALA, Fla. – Jeff Mathews held off Buzzie Reutimann to score the victory in the UMP DIRTcar modifieds Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park.

Paul Snyder grabbed the lead at the start from the third staring spot. On lap three Mathews made the move on Snyder to take the lead.

Ron Burgess spun in turn two to bring the race’s first yellow out on lap 15. Bryan Bernhardt, a heat winner along with Reutimann, had a tire go flat under yellow and that forced him to relinquish third place.

A few other cautions allowed drivers to take a shot at Mathews, but there was no stopping him as he drove to victory.

Reutimann finished second over Bernhardt, Snyder and Kenny Monohan.

Other winners at Bubba Raceway Park were Tommy Hill (hobby stocks), Danny Martin Jr. (360 sprint cars), Shane Nichols (thunder stocks) and Stephen Frankland (gladiators).
