OCALA, Fla. – The Bubba Army 360 Sprint Cars, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators all put on spectacular shows on a cool night at Bubba Raceway Park.
The Bubba Army Hobby Stocks kicked off the night with Devin Walker and Mike Stalnaker running away from the pack. Walker would lead the opening seven before Scott Washam spun exiting turn four. On lap ten, Stalnaker pulled out a daring crossover on Devin Walker, but contact resulted in Walker spinning.
A great battle was over with Stalnaker pitting for a right front tire. Eric Moon rocketed to the lead on the restart with Walker falling into second, right in front of his father. “The Lunar Lander” Eric Moon took home his first career win at Bubba Raceway Park with Walker slotted in behind him. Stalnaker rallied to third while Joey Forsyth took home a solid fourth place finish and Heath Walker completed the top five.
Our Limited Late Models kicked action off with Kevin Mills, Tyler Clem, and Shane Koperda getting into a turn one melee with Clem and Mills retiring with excessive damage. On the next restart, leader Jordan Lockhart lost his left front and started a wreck that involved JO Nobles and Shane Koperda. Both would continue, but Lockhart was done for the night. Nevin Gainey would take the lead with JO Nobles and Shanke Koperda in tow. They would remain in that order with Gainey winning over Nobles, Koperda, Chuck Jackson, and Jordan Lockhart.
TQ Late Models were the third feature of the week and “Yankee Boy” Sean Babcock took the lead from his third place starting spot. Kevin McKenzie would get flung around in turn two before rejoining the field after the caution came out. Terry Wright was barreling down on leader Sean Babcock, but Wright looped his #007 in turn one, bringing a yellow out with six to go. Babcock would hold on to take the first ever TQ Late Models win at Bubba Raceway Park with John Hopke trailing. Randy Glick completed the podium while Dalton Hopke and Terry Wright rounded out the top five.
The Bubba Army 360 Sprints powered down with Danny Martin, Jr. setting the early pace at 100 mph on average. A caution free affair for the Sprints saw Martin nearly lap second place Tony Agin, and he certainly would have with a few more laps. Agin was second all night long with AJ Maddox, Robbie Smith, and Andy Cobb the top five.
The Rent-N-Roll Gladiators put on a spectacular show with young Tyler Bryden taking a huge lead over Stephen Frankland. With just two to go, Bryden and the lapped car of Bill Southard came together on the frontstretch. Southard’s night would end there, but Bryden would get the lead back and never look back. Bryden would take the win over Stephen Frankland and Southard for his first win at Bubba Raceway Park.
The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks were given the privilege of wrapping the night up and Jonathan Appleby rocketed to the front. On lap ten, Mike Valdes spun right in front of Melvin Fockler and destroyed Fockler’s race as smoke poured from the front of the #33. The restart allowed Jeff Stalnaker, Jr. to get around Appleby and never look back, even after the lap sixteen caution for Cory Ross. Stalnaker’s fourth win of 2013 would keep Appleby out of Coors Light Winner’s Circle as Appleby was the bridesmaid over Justyn Elwood. Brandon Elwood gained valuable points with a fourth place finish and John Thorpe completed the top five.
