Lake View Motor Speedway Opening May 16

LAKE VIEW, S.C. – The 40th Anniversary season at Lake View Motor Speedway will open Saturday night, May 16, featuring the opener for the Mid-East Modified Tour Coastal division.

As of press time, the grandstands will not be open due to the COVID-19 social distancing policy of the state of South Carolina. That could change if adjustments are made to the South Carolina policy in the coming days.

“We are so excited to finally get the 2020 season underway at Lake View,” said Lake View Motor Speedway owner, Scott Tripp.  “We have tried for weeks to make this happen and we are so glad to have Jason Wall and the folks with the Mid-East Modified Tour join us.  We are looking forward to having the fans packed in the stands as soon as possible and we feel like we are getting closer every day.”

In addition to the Mid-East Modified Tour Coastal Division, several local divisions will be in action, including the Crate Racin’ USAStreet Stocks, FWD Sport Compacts, Mod-Lites, and Legends cars. The Mid-East Modified Tour is a touring division which features 602 Open Wheel Modifieds.

Fans and racers will notice many improvements as part of Lake View Motor Speedway’s 40th Anniversary season, including a new and improved track surface, red-and-white walls celebrating the track’s original look from 1981, and honoring past speedway heroes like Jimmy Hatchell, Ed Gibbons, J.D. Pridgen, Jay Asbill, Jimmy and Hank Edwards and more with grandstands named in tribute to them.

Lake View Motor Speedway will continue to monitor South Carolina social distancing policies, with the possibility of all the speedway’s regular divisions racing on Saturday, May 23.
