GIBSONTON, Fla. – Doug Horton came out on top of the regular season opener for late models on Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park.
Horton started on the front row for the feature alongside Dave Schmauss. When the green waved it was Schmauss leading the first eight laps until Horton took over the top spot.
By lap 13 Horton found himself catching lapped traffic and trying to hold off Schmauss. By lap 14 Jack Nosbisch Jr. was able to get around Schmauss for the second position. With Nosbisch hot on his heels, Horton took the checkered flag in a caution free 25-lap feature.
Nosbisch finished second, followed by Schmauss, Bryan Bernhardt and Doug Watson.
Other class winners Saturday at East Bay included Tim Gay (street stocks), Jesse Brown (limited late models), George Gorham Jr. (V8 warriors) and John Moore (four-cylinder bombers).
