ELKIN, N.C. – The South Eastern Crate Ass’n (SECA) has added Friendship Speedway to the SECA family for the 2014 racing season.
Under the leadership of General Manager Mike Brown and Promoter Michael Tesh, Friendship flourished in 2013 thanks to the support of fans, drivers, and the racing community.
“We’re extremely pleased to be partners with Friendship Speedway,” said SECA’s Timmy McAbee. “The new management has done an extraordinary job in restoring Friendship to prominence. In addition to adding another track to our team, partnering with Friendship expands our geographic territory and introduces our series to new drivers and fans. We appreciate the opportunity to serve their track.”
“Sanctioning with SECA was without a doubt in the best interest of our track and the drivers that support us,” said Friendship’s Michael Tesh. “We have continued to watch SECA and observe their growth. We want to be a part of that growth as we work together to grow the entire sport of racing. Their series and vision are exactly what Friendship is looking for. It should be noted that we are very appreciative of our previous sanctioning body and the relationship we shared with them. We respect their organization and wish them success moving forward.”
Drivers choosing to sign up with SECA will collect City Chevrolet Weekly Championship points at Friendship Speedway. The 2013 SECA Weekly Championship presented by City Chevrolet paid $7,500 to the winner. The top 15 races will be counted toward the final standings, and the 2014 championship.
