Downing Buys Lanier National Speedway

BRASELTON, Ga. — Jim Downing, the creator of the HANS Device, has purchased Lanier National Speedway in Georgia.

The track, which has been vacant since 2011, was officially sold to Downing this week. The sale was made official during a press conference Tuesday.

Downing, a five-time IMSA driving champion, indicated that he has no plans to bring stock car racing back to the three-eighths-mile oval. He does not plan to begin development of the track until much later in the year.
