CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Two repeat winners and two newcomers visited victory circle Saturday night during Food Drive Night at Atomic Speedway in Ohio. Danny Smith claimed the 410 outlaw sprint main and Dean Boyd grabbed the Street Stock feature.
“Insane” Duane Chamberlain was the Gullion Ent. AMRA Late Model winner, while another newcomer, Travis Dickson, a third-generation driver, edged Kenny Johnson to take the Advanced Services AMRA Octane main.
Mark Imler of Chillicothe, Ohio, led the first 17 laps of the Pine Tree Towing 410 Outlaw sprint main, surviving two red flags and four cautions.
Josh Davis was fast on a lap 14 restart, but after the lap 17 delay, he wasn’t a factor.
Imler dominated for the next several laps.
Ryan Broughton took the lead after the final red flag and appeared to be well in control, before his ignition box became disengaged, allowing Smith and Imler back into the mix. Smith’s Maxim/J.D. Engines/Coors Light Gang No. 4 went high, and Imler low with the veteran Smith storming on to the victory.
“It was a tricky track tonight and hard to figure out, slick in spots, really slick in other spots, and tacky in others,” said Smith. “I don’t know if I could have caught Broughton or not, but I was gonna give it a try.”
